Frigiliana is a picturesque little white village about 7km (4.2 mi) inland from Nerja, and an easy day trip via bus. It stair steps up the side of a hill with great views to the sea beyond. There weren't any specific sights here apart from the town itself and its hodgepodge of white washed buildings amid narrow cobblestone lanes. It's a frequent winner of the Andalucian Tourist Board's annual prettiest village award. Frigiliana is another place we could see ourselves living – if only we could afford it. By the way, the white paint you see covering virtually every structure in such towns is thought to be favored because it best reflects the strong Spanish sun. It's also a matter of tradition and, in some jurisdictions, required by law.
